Divorce & Family Court

Mr. Pickney has successfully helped his clients obtain custody of their children, reduce or increase existing child support awards for non-custodial and custodial parents, obtain dismissal of charges of abuse and neglect against parents, and obtain court permission for clients to relocate out-of-state with their children.

Criminal Defense

A client of Mr. Pickney's was wrongfully accused of driving while intoxicated. Three people had been in a car which struck a parked vehicle. Several witnesses identified Mr. Pickney's client as the driver and he was arrested. After a lengthy trial, Mr. Pickney's client was found not guilty.

One of our clients was arrested for possessing an automatic weapon which he had inherited and never fired. He was arrested by the police, charged with a felony and faced extensive upstate jail time. After Mr. Pickney became involved with the case, a plea bargain was entered. The client received no jail time and did not have a criminal conviction placed on his record.

Personal Injury

One of our clients was represented by another law firm and was advised to settle her child's case for $30,000 against the City of New York. After she hired Mr. Pickney, the City rather than go to trial, agreed to a settlement of more than $100,000.

Our firm represented a mother and her child who had been attacked by a vicious dog, Mr. Pickney was able to recover the full insurance policy, more than $100,000, from the dog's owner without ever going to court.
